Exercise and diet may be at the center of their attention. But did you know that your oral health can also affect your heart? In this blog post, we will discuss the troubling link between gum disease in Belmont and heart health problems. In fact, scientists have found oral bacteria in the fatty deposits of people with atherosclerosis.<\/li><li><strong>Inflammation.<\/strong> Gum disease increases the body\u2019s burden of inflammation, and inflammation can contribute to heart problems.<\/li><li><strong>Common contributing factors.<\/strong> Gum disease and heart disease have some common risk factors, such as smoking, that can lead to both conditions at the same time.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What You Can Do<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are some steps that you can take during Heart Health Month (and well into the future) that may benefit both your oral health and your cardiovascular wellness:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Know the signs of gum disease. <\/strong>Red, swollen gums that bleed easily are one of the most recognizable signs of gum disease. If your gums do not feel healthy, you should seek treatment as soon as possible.<\/li><li><strong>Visit your dentist for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dentalcarenh.com\/preventive-dentistry.html\">preventive care<\/a>.<\/strong> Biannual checkups and cleanings can do much to rid the mouth of harmful bacteria and reduce your risk of gum disease.<\/li><li><strong>Stick to excellent oral hygiene habits. <\/strong>Diligent brushing and flossing help to prevent disease-causing bacteria from accumulating in your mouth.<\/li><li><strong>Curb bad habits.<\/strong> If you smoke, every effort you make to quit will be worth it.
