Why Choose the Center for Contemporary Dentistry for Dental Bonding?

What Is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding is also called cosmetic bonding or direct bonding. During the treatment process, we apply a tooth-colored resin over the teeth to disguise their imperfections. The resin is the same material that we use for tooth-colored fillings. Some issues that dental bonding is often able to address include:

We usually recommend dental bonding for patients who wish to change the look of just one or two teeth. If you would prefer to completely make over your smile, we may suggest that you opt for porcelain veneers instead. Veneers tend to be stronger and have a longer lifespan than dental bonding.

How Does Dental Bonding Work?

The dental bonding process usually requires just one appointment. Depending on how many teeth are being worked on, you might be in our office for less than an hour. We begin by selecting the right shade for the resin; we want it to blend in as well as possible with your natural teeth. Then, we roughen up the tooth’s surface with a mild acidic solution, after which we apply a conditioning liquid. Next, we apply the resin and mold it into the desired shape. A special light hardens the resin in a matter of seconds. Your dentist carefully adjusts the shape of the resin to put the finishing touches on your new look.

We do not usually use local anesthesia for dental bonding, so you will not have to deal with a numb mouth after your appointment. In fact, you should be able to go about your daily activities as usual.
